This fall, we asked what it means to be a fan. What are you obsessed with? Who do you aspire to be like? What does loyalty mean to you?
Fandom is commitment. It’s personal and it’s collective. Fandom is also subservience. We become secondary to what we’re fans of, whether we want to be or not. Fandom is humanity speaking to, controlling, loving itself.
Our contributors explored subcultures, obsessions, strangers, and nature. We’re their biggest fans, and maybe you are too.

Welcome to our fall issue.
We're big fans.
